Author Notes

This was the end-all, be-all dessert for me and my sisters growing up. With only three ingredients, it's the simplest dish around, but the flavors do something incredible when they meld together. Use the best quality cream you can find—it makes a difference. —Posie (Harwood) Brien

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! I grew up having this!!! although i believe we just used regular sugar! But it’s so comforting to see others know this delicious delicacy and appreciate it as well! 💚hugs!

Delish. Another wonderful version is maple syrup instead of brown sugar and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.

My self and my cousins ate this growing up all the time, and same with our parents. Our grandparents called it Diddy Dough for some reason. It is my dads side of the families go to comfort food, or snack when we are going to be outside all day doing work.

That's...a lot of brown sugar. I would go maybe 1-2 teaspoons per serve - bananas are sweet! Otherwise, this is a good combo of flavours. Reminds me of having brown sugar, banana, and milk on porridge - the milk leftover is always the best part.

Initially, my thoughts were "Huh.", when I read the recipe. It was the BANANAS that threw me off!

When I realized that I've been eating fresh fruit like this since I had baby teeth, THEN it made sense! LOL I grew up on a dairy farm in Northern Minnesota, and the only desserts we'd have during growing season were what came out of our garden. So, we had Fresh Strawberries, brown sugar and cream, then raspberries, boysenberries, and my favourite: fresh from the tree MULBERRIES! Since bananas didn't grow on our farm, I never would have tried this version but now, I plan to by the end of the week!

Modified slightly by halving the sugar and cream, but kept banana amount same. Probably could have halved the sugar one more time as it was pretty sweet. We enjoyed the recipe very much and you can't beat it for a fast, easy, and convenient dessert (I had all the ingredients on hand!)

I can eat brown sugar straight out of the bag! A friend once said their mom showed how to break up the lumps while my mom showed us how just to est them!

booglix March 9, 2016

So you just eat it cold while the brown sugar is still crunchy?

Posie (. March 9, 2016

Yep! Cold cream is the best. I like to let it sit for a few minutes so the brown sugar starts to soften and sweeten the cream a bit.

Delicious, this would be good with maple syrup too ;)

Since reading this last week, it has been my after workout snack twice. I am in love.

I like to heat the cream and bananas over low heat and add the sugar after I put it in a bowl. Yummmm. Like a warm banana soup hug!

This was very tasty! Went a little lighter on the brown sugar though and it was delicious!

Hi Ninfa. Let me know how you like it!

Hello Karen! Bananas bore me sometimes, so this combo put some Fun into it; loved it.

Simple, yet yummy can't wait to try!

Yes, hope you try it! Enjoy it on these very hot summer days -- "no bake" is my new mantra.

My favorite 3 ingredient recipe for banana is pure vanilla ice cream (the kind with natural ingredients), slice banana on top, add a little Hershey chocolate syrup. Yum!
